Zane Grey birthday celebration

MILFORD, PA — On Friday, January 31 at 7 p.m., the Pike County Historical Society will host a birthday celebration in honor of Lackawaxen’s Zane Grey. Grey spent much time at his home on the conflux of the Delaware and Lackawaxen Rivers either fishing or writing; two things he loved to do. The event will be held at The Columns Museum and is free to the general public.

The Pike County Commissioners will hand down a proclamation to officially make January 31st “Zane Grey Day” in Pike County. Local favorite Darren Fouse, will debut his portrayal of Grey, which includes a costumed interpretation and a reading of one of Grey’s short stories about fishing in the waters of Pike County. County Historian George Fluhr will also be on hand with some new insights regarding Grey. There will be refreshments and a birthday cake.

Copies of Zane Grey novels will be available for purchase, thanks to the Zane Grey West Society. For more information about this event, The Columns Museum, or the Pike County Historical Society, visit www.pikehistorical.org or call 570/296-8126.
