NARROWSBURG, NY — The Narrowsburg Ecumenical Food Pantry (NEFP) ended its successful toy drive this year by giving out hundreds of wrapped toys, along with Christmas dinners, to local families on Wednesday, December 18 at the food pantry. The toys were collected at three toy drive parties held at Angelina’s on the Hill Pizzeria, Tony’s on the Lake Restaurant and The Narrowsburg Inn Restaurant. In addition, there were donation boxes in the Narrowsburg and Lake Huntington post offices, Peck’s Market in Narrowsburg and in St. Francis Xavier and St. Paul’s Lutheran churches.

Jeff Gombita, the manager of the Pecks store in Narrowsburg, said between monetary and food donations the community donated $775.98 for the NEFP. Pecks will match that amount in food.

Coordinators called the outpouring of community unity overwhelming with both monetary and toy donations. Handmade items, including blankets for babies and beautiful handmade scarves, were also donated.

In addition, St. Francis has an outreach program that helps families during the year and is currently in need of monetary donations. Call Barbara Drollinger at 845/252-3224, or send a donation to St. Francis Outreach, P.O. Box 9, Narrowsburg, NY 12764.
