MILFORD, PA — Delaware Valley High School (DVHS) Teens Against Tobacco Use (TATU) member Phillip Burns gave out 51 stickers randomly to students in the hall between each class period for the Great American Smokeout recently. This represented the 51 people in the U.S. who die every hour of a smoking related disease. At the end of the day, these 357 students were called down to the auditorium for a visual representation of the toll that tobacco takes each day in the U.S. TATU members work to educate their peers and students in elementary and middle school about the dangers of tobacco use. Ellen Orben, DVHS nurse, is the group’s adviser.
