KAUNEONGA LAKE, NY — Municipal and business leaders joined interior designer Alex Johnson and clothing designer Daryl Kroken, the co-owners of the new retail store River House, for a ribbon cutting on Saturday afternoon, November 23.

The shop, at its new location at 140 Lake St., offers gifts, including teddy bears made entirely from recycled cashmere or alpaca wool sweaters and designed by the shop’s co-owners; home accessories and home furnishings;, as well as clothing, personal care products and artworks by local artists.

Entrepreneur Chris Foster is launching a line of natural organic cleaning products called Mina’s Green Clean and a second line of personal care products, Foster My Body, that are sulfate-free with essential oils.

Carol Smith, artist in residence at River House, shows and offers her abstract paintings for sale. Other artists include photographer Terry Wolf, whose color and black-and-white prints were taken entirely within 10 to 12 miles from Bethel; Judy Beck shows her one-of-a-kind wearable fiber art pieces call Scrumbling; and Brock Lady offers acrylic portraits capturing the faces of recognizable artists.

River House is open Thursday through Monday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. “If the light’s on we’re open,” Kroken said.
