It’s a little cold out there. The lawn is covered with snow, the heat is up and the soup is on. It’s during times like this that I wish I were a snow bird going to Florida, but knowing me, I would just complain that it’s too hot. I love to shovel snow, but I hate to drive on the icy roads. Today we worked at the food pantry, putting together 50 Thanksgiving dinners for local families; we could not do it without the support of all of you. The Open Your Heart For Local Children Toy drive has added another fundraising party (a light buffet) on Wednesday December 4 at Angelina’s on the Hill Pizzeria and Restaurant, 23 Crescent Rd., Lake Huntington, NY at 6 p.m. Admission is a unwrapped toy. There is also a donation box in the Lake Huntington Post Office as well as at the Narrowsburg Post Office. One toy could put a smile on a child’s face this Christmas, please try to donate this holiday season.

On December 1 at 10 a.m. the Cochecton Youth Group is having their Christmas Party at the Lake Huntington Firehouse. If you signed up, please come; if you did not sign up, there will not be a toy for your child. It is very important to come to sign ups, or call the event coordinator to make arrangements. The youth group has by-laws that we must follow, and you have to sign up so we have paper work to turn over to the county.

On December 1 the Lake Huntington Red Hatters are having their Christmas party at 4 p.m. at Tony’s on The Lake. The cost is $20 per person and includes all (except a cash bar). There will be a $5-grab-bag gift. Give Dolores Manaseri a call at 845/791-0590, if you are interested in becoming a Red Hatter.

On Friday, December 6 at 7:30 at the Lake Huntington Presbyterian Church and on Saturday, December 7 at The Jeffersonville Presbyterian Church, the Sullivan County Transformation Chorus will present a Christmas Cantata (narration and music on the birth of Christ). Refreshments follow each concert. For more information, call 570/729-8247.

On Tuesday, December 10 at 6 p.m. the Woman’s Community Club of Cochecton will have their Christmas potluck meeting. If you once were a member and would like to get out of the house and see some of the ladies from the past, or if you want to be a new member, bring a dish and have fun.

On November 26, my buddy Dolores Manaseri is having her 75th birthday. We are blessed to have her in our town. A happy birthday to Linda Blasso—many years of health and happiness.

Please keep Diane Grund, Ed’s wife in your prayers. She lost her mother this week Louise Krantz. This has been some year for losing mothers. It’s never easy.

Have a great week and e-mail me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845-252-3568 if you have any news.
