MONTICELLO, NY — The Village of Monticello Department of Public Works (DPW) will provide curbside pickup and recycling of Christmas trees through a new pilot program in partnership with Sullivan Renaissance. Christmas trees left at the curb within the village limits through the month of January will be picked up by the DPW and brought to DeHoyos Park to be chipped. All decorations, lights and stands must be removed before recycling.
Next spring the wood chips will be used to mulch planting beds on Broadway. “Recycling these trees is not only good for the environment, but will also result in a cost savings to the village,” said Sullivan Renaissance Horticultural Coordinator Diana K. Weiner.
Contact the Monticello DPW at 845/794-6130 x 312.
