WAYNE COUNTY, PA — The boards of directors of three chambers of commerce—The Pocono Lake Region Chamber, The Southern Wayne Chamber and the Wayne County Chamber—are recommending a merger, to be known as The Chamber of the Northern Poconos.
“This new regional organization will provide a number of benefits to our members and to our community,” a letter to members of the three chambers said. In addition to streamlining marketing and administrative efforts, “Perhaps the largest benefit will be the opportunity to brand our region… We have so much to offer both visitors and businesses, yet we lack an inclusive identity. The economic challenges of the last several years have proven that to be successful we must have a clear identity, constant vision and we must all work together.”
The Chamber of the Northern Poconos will define itself as being “The Heart of Commerce in Wayne—Pike, the Lake Region and Beyond.”
To finalize the merger, a special membership meeting will be held at Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Resort on Route 507 on Lake Wallenpaupack at 11:30 a.m., followed by a 12 noon buffet luncheon. Tickets cost $25; advanced reservations are required by no later than January 10. Scott J. Weiland, consultant for this tri-chamber initiative will give an overview of the initiative and answer questions. A membership vote will be taken at the meeting.
