Roscoe Beer Co. selects winner for student advertising competition

Posted

ROSCOE, NY — Roscoe Beer Co. selected a student team from SUNY Sullivan’s Principles of Advertising class, taught by Professor Ron Bernthal, as the winner of its recent print advertising competition. The student team consisted of Keila Gomes-Borges of Boston, MA, Aaron Raphael from Tanzania, Africa, and Danny Gonzales from Brooklyn, NY. The local beer company announced the competition last month as an opportunity for students to gain real-life advertising experience.

The winning team’s ad featured the tagline “Reel Quality Beer From Roscoe, NY,” which tied into the fishing theme of the company’s flagship beer, Trout Town™ American Amber Ale. Students had to research the beer company, create an ad, and pitch their ideas in an attempt to “land” Roscoe Beer Co. as a client. Professor Cynthia Marcello’s Simulation & Game Development Programming I class lent graphic design assistance to Bernthal’s advertising class.
