LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — Business owners interested in receiving funding to train their workers can apply to SUNY Sullivan for workforce development training grants. The SUNY Community College Workforce Development Training Grant Program is funded by the 2017/18 New York State budget and is administered by the State University of New York (SUNY). Businesses must contact Dr. Stephen Mitchell at smitchell@sunysullivan.edu, or 845/434-5750, ext. 4377 by July 21 in order to be considered for a grant.

Among the primary program priorities that will drive the selection process are: new employers requiring training for startup including START-UP NY companies; employers expanding their operations and/or creating new jobs; employers that seek to improve productivity, efficiency, effectiveness and profitability as a result of the training; firms where training is essential to survival and job retention; firms that are small and without assistance would not be able to afford any training; firms that show promise of increased sales, new products, or new markets as a result of the training.

The maximum training award is $30,000, with a 25% cash and in-kind match required. Projects should begin on or after September 1 and must be completed by August 1, 2018. Completed proposals are submitted by SUNY Sullivan and must be received at the SUNY office in Albany by close of business on August 15.
