BETHEL, NY — Combined Energy Services (www.CombinedEnergyServices.com), a Monticello-based, family-owned fuel oil and gas supplier, donated $4,000 to the Allyson Whitney Foundation, an organization that works to empower, fight for and raise awareness of the interests of young people stricken with rare cancers, at the sixth annual Allyson Whitney Foundation 5K Run & Walk. It is usually held each year close to Mother’s Day weekend, and took place this year on May 13.
Combined Energy Services has donated to the organization for a total of four years and has also designed a propane delivery truck featuring the distinctive Allyson Whitney Foundation-themed logo design.
The foundation was created in March 2012 to honor Whitney, a 2004 Monticello High School graduate, who died of a rare and aggressive form of cervical cancer at age 25, only 14 months after being diagnosed. Its mission is to give “life interrupted” patient grants to assist young adults coping with rare diseases with their varied needs, including rent, medical bills and travel expenses.
Donations can be sent to The Allyson Whitney Foundation, P.O. Box 586, Rock Hill, NY, 12775. Visit www.crowdrise.com/allysonwhitney.
