Summertime is so busy; this weekend was the Callicoon Street Fair in Callicoon and RiverFest in Narrowsburg.

I worked the St. Francis Xavier Church chicken barbeque selling 50/50 tickets, and then I went to work at RiverFest. Fr. Bill would like to thank everyone who worked to make the barbeque a success. Sunday when I was in church and the rain was coming down, I had a heart-to-heart talk with God. “Please God, stop the rain so RiverFest can go on and have a good turnout.” He does listen; the streets were packed and the food was flowing.

Did you know that Lake Huntington has a new restaurant? It’s called Angelina’s on the Hill Pizzeria/Restaurant and is located at 23 Crescent Rd. next to Gasko and Meyers. My husband and I went to have a pizza the other day and it was good. We will go back and try the other food on the menu.

As most of you know, Heinle’s General Store is open and ready to serve the public, open seven days a week.

No matter where I go there is always someone telling me that they like my column. Last week I was in Tony’s on the Lake and Danny and Marilyn Barletto and a sister of Marilyn’s were there and I said I would mention them in the paper. I got a napkin and wrote their names down and I must have blown my nose in it when I got home. I cannot find it anywhere.

Hank and Joyce, owners of the Ruff Cut for the last 24 years, closed its doors on July 31. They would like to thank all their loyal customers for the many years of support and friendship. Cochecton will not be the same without the largest roast beef sandwich in town.

The Marine Corps League, Catskill Detachment 652 would like to thank Hank and Joyce for many years of hosting the monthly Marine Corps meeting. The newly elected commandant, Hank Hudson, has made arrangements for the meeting to be held the first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at The Stone Arch Restaurant on Route 52 in Kenoza Lake. For more information give Bob Deman a call at 845/252-7208.

On Saturday, August 10 the Woman’s Community Club of Cochecton is hosting a giant benefit yard sale at the old town hall, Route 116 Lake Huntington from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be household goods, toys, old and new items. Stop by and support the ladies who make this community hum.

The Tusten Lions are selling raffle tickets for a Zero turn Snapper 48-inch-cut lawn mower. If you’d like to help support the Lions, give Dianna a call at 845/252-3547.

Have a great week and email leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news.
