As we gear-up for the National Park Service (NPS) Centennial in 2016, Steamtown National Historic Site will join with the more than 400 NPS units to celebrate the 99th birthday of "America's Best Idea" with an Entrance Fee Free Day. Train ride fares are not included.

Steamtown NHS plans to host Railfest 2015. The National Park Service site works with numerous partners to present this annual end-of-summer event, which is a celebration of railroading, will feature special guest, Nickel Plate Road #765 steam locomotive.
Steamtown NHS is planning a “Troops and Trains” event for Memorial Day weekend, on the park grounds to include a "troop train" reenactment excursion to Jessup on Saturday, May 23. Event included with daily entrance fee; train ride extra, $24/$22/$17.

National Park Week at Steamtown National Historic Site begins with entrance fee-free days on April 18 and 19, seasonal start of train rides with "Scranton Ltd" and "Nay Aug Ltd" trips, and National Junior Ranger Day on April 18.
Steamtown National Historic Site will partner with Scranton Tomorrow to provide a special excursion train from several Lackawanna County boroughs to the inaugural event of Scranton's year-long sesquicentennial celebration to be held at the Mall at Steamtown.
Members of the Confederation of Union Generals will "Meet the Public" in a one-hour presentation at 1 pm, Steamtown National Historic Site.
