Upper Delaware Scenic Byway Visitor Center to feature roof with a view

If and when it is built, it will have a sloping roof that will provide visitors with a good view of Fort Delaware and the Upper Delaware River below. The proposed design of the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway (UDSB) Visitor Center was unveiled at a meeting in Narrowsburg on January 23.

Along with the specialized roof, which will be made of recycled rubber pavers to handle the foot traffic, the 2,400-square-foot building will have a gallery, a multi-use space to be used as a theater or classroom, two offices for the UDSB and Fort Delaware, a gift shop, a warming kitchen and public restrooms.  Read more

The Heron Restaurant opens in Narrowsburg

The storefront that until recently was the home of the Main Street Café in Narrowsburg has a new restaurant and new proprietors. Marla Puccetti and Paul Nanni opened the doors of The Heron with a soft opening on January 14, and are now open for business. Nanni said that initially the restaurant will be open for breakfast and lunch on the weekdays, and brunch and dinners on the weekend.  Read more

UDC: new members and a spirit of cooperation for 2012

New faces were at the helm and around the table as the Upper Delaware Council (UDC) kicked off the new year at its January 5 meeting. After acknowledging the new representatives, retiring UDC chairman Larry Richardson handed over the gavel to Town of Lumberland representative Nadia Rajsz, who will serve as chairman for 2012.  Read more

Garage fire in the flats

Firefighters from six companies responded to a fire in the flats on the morning of January 9. Smoke billowed out of a large hole in the roof of the structure as firefighters worked to make the building safe enough to inspect.  Read more
