Motion to sanction Tusten, Lumberland goes down at UDC

A motion by Town of Delaware representative Harold Roeder to declare the towns of Tusten and Lumberland non-conforming with respect to the River Management Plan (RMP) due to their natural gas drilling bans was voted down at the July 5 Upper Delaware Council (UDC) meeting.  Read more

Tusten goes for the gold

The Town of Tusten’s waterfront revitalization project, currently in the engineering study and design phase, is one of four included in a special Upper Delaware River Corridor Regional Collaboration, which also includes applications for the planned whitewater park in Port Jervis, a Pond Eddy access parking study for a new river access point and a project to purchase and improve a river access at Sparrowbush in Orange County.  Read more

Board shoots the messenger; fireworks ‘fiasco’ blamed on newspaper

Almost everyone seemed to accept that since about 2007 when the eagles first built their nest on a tree in the Flats, the fireworks in Narrowsburg have been carried out in violation of a federal law, which could have carried a $200,000 fine.  Read more

Shed donated to flats

The baseball league that uses the ball field in the Flats has been looking for a shed for a few years in which to house equipment and from which to sell concessions, and on July 5, they got their wish. Kevin Freda, the owner of K&D construction, and his son Kyle formally donated a shed they built to the Town of Tusten.  Read more

Narrowsburg parade features clowns and fire trucks

Repeating a pageant that took place in countless towns across the country on July 4, residents and marchers turned out to Main St. in Narrowsburg in the afternoon to celebrate the birthday of the United States with a spirited parade.

Terraced river walk envisioned for Narrowsburg

If the proposed waterfront design goes forward the way the designers have envisioned, it would feature several overlooks, and a terraced walk on the property behind the stores on Main Street—but not entry to the Main Street stores from the back as had previously been envisioned.  Read more
