Help for a helper: weathering Hurricane Sandy with the support of friends, family and strangers

When she’s not providing care for the three rescued poodles who live with Jennifer Maurizzio and her husband, Joe, one can often track Jennifer down at the Narrowsburg Ecumenical Food Pantry where she helps others in her role as president. But following Hurricane Sandy’s visit to the region, the couple found themselves receiving help after a massive white pine tree nearly cleaved their home in half.  Read more

Meet the Candidate: Tusten voters get to ask questions

4 p.m. on Saturday, at the Tusten Town Hall on Bridge St., to give candidates a chance to get to know councilwoman Andrea Reynosa, who is running to continue her term on the Tusten Town Board for another year. The question session will be followed by an evening of Tusten Concerned Citizens' Skydog Supper Club from 5 to 9 p.m., a potluck gathering at which voters will have the chance to talk to Reynosa one on one. Annual Pumpkin Decorating Program

The Western Sullivan Public Library will be holding its annual pumpkin decorating program on Saturday, 10:30am at the Narrowsburg branch and 2:00pm at the Jeffersonville branch.
