Representatives of a dozen companies lined up with their cardboard sleds at the Holiday Mountain Ski and Fun Park on February 9 to take part in a race. The sleds could be made only from cardboard, tape and paint. The Woodstock Wind Balloon Company took the prize for “most creative,” while the Poley Paving Company created the fastest sled. Read more

The Literacy Volunteers of Sullivan County will sponsor their monthly Story Time at the Read it Again Book Store, 11am-12 noon. Legislators have not yet voted, but it seems likely that they will move forward with a plan to build nine new emergency communications towers and purchase new frequencies to aid in the communication among emergency responders. Read more
Legislator Cindy Gieger said that only three farmers regularly receive recycled newsprint from Sullivan County transfer stations, and a fourth receives it occasionally. The policy to allow farmers to receive recycled newsprint for no cost was established in 2003. Read more
