Program on beekeeping

Summer program at the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library beekeeping with Don Bertholf, 7pm. Bertholf, a seasoned beekeeper, will share tips for beginner, intermediate and advanced beekeepers on how to get a hive/hives of bees up and producing honey, plus tips on how to protect your hives. Monticello remains believed to be homicide victim

Monticello Police Chief Robert Mir announced today that the skeletal remains found on June 10, 2014, in a wooded area located behind the Sleepy Hollow Apartments Complex in the Village of Monticello have been positively identified, by DNA tests performed at the New York State Police Crime Laboratory, as the remains of April Parker, 31, of Terry Lane, Monticello, N.Y. An autopsy conducted has determined that Parker’s death was a homicide.  Read more

Turmoil in Sullivan Family Services; legal battle escalates

The battle that has been brewing for nearly two years in the Sullivan County Department of Family Services (DFS) boiled into the open on July 22, with a lawyer for DFS commissioner Randy Parker issuing a press release that harshly criticizes an investigation that targeted Parker.

The legislature in June passed a resolution to spend $175,000 to pay for an investigation into various complaints within DFS.  Read more

Steak and lobster bake

Monticello man arrested for burglary

Monticello Police arrested Glenden Reynolds (22) of Monticello on Thursday 7/17/14. Reynolds was arrested as a result of an ongoing investigation into a burglary of the Monticello Liquors Store located on Pleasant Street in the Village of Monticello.  Read more
