Postcards and Poetry: An Historical View of Tusten through Verse will be featured at the annual local history event of Tusten Historical Society at the Tusten Town Hall, 200 Bridge St., 2pm. Regional poets have written poems to accompany postcards from the historical society’s archives. Free. Light refreshments served.

Sullivan County ATV Annual Fall Run

September 17, 2016

Sullivan County ATV Association annual fall ATV Run held September 17-18. It will take place on Poli Field at the corner of Sackett Lake Road and South Maplewood Road. Camping offered Friday and Saturday nights with rides on Saturday and Sunday. Food available for purchase throughout the weekend. $45 per person to ride, camping $20 per night.

New Jersey man found guilty of child sexual abuse in Sullivan County Court

Sullivan County District Attorney Jim Farrell announced today that Jefferson Alvarez, 35, of Union City, N.J. was convicted on September 1 by a Sullivan County jury of two counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, both class D violent felonies, after a four day trial in Sullivan County Court.

The jury deliberated for about an hour before returning its guilty verdicts. Farrell said that the evidence at trial established that Alvarez subjected an eleven year old child to sexual contact at a home in the Village of Monticello in August of 2013.  Read more
