The legacy of Randy Parker, the former commissioner of the Sullivan County Division of Family Services, (DFS) was felt in the halls of the Sullivan County Government Center on July 7, as legislators were updated about the status of a lawsuit brought by a woman who claimed she was denied emergency housing when she and her family needed it. Sullivan County District Attorney Jim Farrell announced today that Carlos Serrano, 24, of Monticello, N.Y. was indicted by a Sullivan County Grand Jury on charges of Murder in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree and Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree, all felonies. Differences over farming in residential districts; Sullivan ag board recommends against including Liberty farms
There was a public hearing at the government center on June 16 regarding the addition of new farming operations into Agricultural District Four in Sullivan County. Inclusion in the ag districts gives farmers certain protections should towns attempt to diminish or halt farming operations through zoning. Read more
