Sullivan chair backs Cuomo’s casino plan
The chair of the Sullivan County Legislature says he is pleased with Governor Cuomo’s plan that would bring a casino to the county. On May 12, Scott Samuelson issued a press release saying, “While I am still evaluating the details of the governor’s proposal, clearly this presents an opportunity for a real discussion and debate to occur ... I remain hopeful that Sullivan County will benefit greatly from this endeavor.” Read more
Clean-Up Day

Health fair
Refuah Health center will launch a health fair at the Walmart Shopping Center parking lot. You will have the opportunity to speak to one of our doctors and discuss heath related issues. There will be some free health screenings like blood pressure and glucose level. 845/482-9394.
Health lecture at the Literacy Center
There will be a talk about weight "release" and blood tests at the Literacy Center, 5:30pm. A Syracuse University S.I. Newhouse-trained journalist talks about how he effectively lost over 40 pounds to return to his college weight of 30 years ago. Hear why a small but growing number of health professionals use "new" blood tests in addition to the "standard" lipid profile of LDL, HDL and Triglycerides to assess and mange their patients' vascular health. 845/423-5958.

Great Books Discussion

51-inch TV stolen from WalMart
On Wednesday May 1, 2013, at about 10:30 AM, the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office was called to WalMart in Monticello for a report of a theft of a 55 inch flat screen TV. Read more
