There was an overflow crowd of hundreds of people that spilled out into the lobby of the Selig Theater at Sullivan County Community College on August 12, as 2013 the Sullivan Renaissance Awards were bestowed on many volunteers and groups.
The largest award, the $25,000 Golden Feather, which was handed out by Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther, went to Livingston Manor Renaissance for its work on enhancements to Main Street. The group also picked up a $2,500 award for its community planning efforts. Read more

On Friday June 14, 2013 at approximately 10:30 p.m., Deputies from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office responded to 136 Anawanda Lake Rd. in the Town of Thompson for a report of a domestic dispute. Once at the scene deputies separated the parties. One of the subjects involved in the dispute, Joseph W. McCombs, 33, of Loch Sheldrake became agitated and started fighting with the deputies. 2013 marks the 6th annual presentation of the Fisher Film Festival, which will be held in the college's Seelig Theatre beginning at noon. This year's theme is “The Art of Storytelling,” and will feature works from local artists, alumni and students. Two SUNY Sullivan alumni will be the featured presenters.
