Native Plants Walk

Wee ones walk

Lake Ariel Oil Spill

Officials from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) are trying to determine exactly how some heating oil spilled into Lake Ariel. The spill occurred last weekend and was contained with oil booms by by hazmat workers.  Read more

Lacawac receives $390,000 grant

The Lacawac Sanctuary Foundation has received a $390,000 grant from the National Science Foundation for the construction of a state-of-the-art library. According to a press release from the organization, “The addition of the library will enable Lacawac to continue with its vital studies, while helping to attract scientists from around the country to come and conduct climate and water quality research.”  Read more

Fishkill investigated in Lake Ariel

The PA Fish and Boat Commission is looking into a fishkill in Lake Ariel that involved an estimated 9,000 minnows and about 1,000 other types of fish, including some game fish.  Read more
