The Honesdale Borough Police are investigating a hit and run accident which occurred on 1/3/12 near the intersection of Rt. 191 and Rt. 670 sometime in the evening hours. On 12/27/11 at approx. 8:56 p.m., The Honesdale Borough Police arrested Joseph Bennett, 47 from Honesdale, after he assaulted a female victim age 40 from Honesdale at their residence in the Borough. During the incident, Bennett also struck Billy DeGraw, 32 from Honesdale, in the face when he tried to assist the victim. Bennett was arraigned on charges of Simple Assault and Harassment before MDJ Carney and was released on $10, 000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 01/04/12.
Business is booming. It must be, because five new businesses opened in Honesdale since the summer.
