On November 6th 2012, the Honesdale Borough Police arrested Blaise Melofchik, 30 from Scranton. Melofchik was wanted by Pike County for a parole violation. Borough Police Officer’s had received information on Melofchik’s whereabouts and found him at a Willow Ave residence. He was taken into custody and transported to the Wayne County Correctional Facility while he awaits transport back to Pike County?
Only a handful of Pennsylvania Power and Light (PP&L) customers remained without power in Wayne and Pike counties by Tuesday morning, a week after Hurricane Sandy blew through the region leaving 23,923 customers in Wayne and 19,665 in Pike in the dark. With power restored, repair crews from faraway states started home or headed off to other areas stricken by the storm where people were still waiting for power. Read more

Divers found the body of Jessica Daniels, 31, of Honesdale in her car in a pond along State Road 296. According to the Pennsylvania Highway Patrol, sometime early in the morning of Sunday, October 28, Daniels drove her 2009 Honda Civic along South Smith Road through a stop sign. She travelled through the intersection, up an embankment and into the pond.
Her body was discovered by divers at about 9:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, and the Wayne County coroner pronounced her dead at the scene. Read more
