On Thursday 10/18/2011the Honesdale Borough Police were called to 512 Church Street, The Briarwood Apartments for a report of a burglary. Jewelry, a purse and other items were stolen from the apartment. An investigation by police revealed that 34 year old Felicia Prohidney of Honesdale, and 23 year old Colleen Bakker of Honesdale, had planned the burglary and then acted upon their plan. Prohidney and Bakker then sold some of the stolen items at a local Jewelry Store. Read more

Pink was the color of Honesdale on October 15.
Pink balloons adorned both sides of the Main Street bridge and on most of the parking meters along Main and Church Street. People were wearing pink caps, pink T-shirts and pink coats. Some even had pink shoes. Read more
Last Tuesday, October 4, Transition Honesdale called a meeting of local residents, and asked what was learned from the two hurricanes. One thing learned by the group gathered in the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce Community Room was that hardly any of the cell towers in the area had generators and went dead with the loss of power.
