Hawley council considers eight miles of trails; Courting outdoor recreation

The Hawley Borough Council voted on January 9 to assume the role of applicant and grant writer for three trails that would wind through the town and into the Lake Wallenpaupack area.

An extensive presentation was made by Sue Currier, executive director of the Delaware Highlands Conservancy, who explained the long-range plan, currently in the development stage, which would include trails covering an eight-mile expanse.  Read more

‘Distressed’ Hawley designation makes Cozza ‘walk’

Lines were drawn and battles were waged to the point where an incensed Hawley Planning Commission member stormed out of the meeting on January 1 amid angry words from the public and the commission. While the fiscal cliff in Washington was averted New Year’s Eve, and still with unanswered questions, Hawley seems poised on its own fiscal cliff, with no answers in the foreseeable future.  Read more

Eagle-viewing trip
