Free rabies clinic at the Eldred Firehouse, 6 Proctor Rd, 6-7:30pm. Bring prior vaccination history, even if it is expired, receive a 3-year vaccination. Without proof, receive a 1-year vaccination. Season for the ages

Cheered on by adoring fans including fellow students, staff and of course, their family members, the Eldred Lady Yellow Jacket soccer team boarded a bus bound for the state semifinals in Cortland hoping to continue their historic ride. After defeating Livingston Manor 3-2 with a pair of goals in a minute and a half to win their first Section IX title since 1986, the Eldred juggernaut notched a 2-1 regional final win over Oppenheim/Ephratah/St. Johnsville on a late goal by Jordan Lepes to advance to its first-ever state final four.  Read more

Widespread northeastern hurricane damage last fall led to a grant opportunity for town officials to finally relocate a historically flood-prone town facility, but actually getting to the money turned out to be like snagging an elusive brass ring.  Read more

A pause to honor veterans

The sound of three shots from three rifles split the air as veterans from all wars involving United States military personnel were honored on November 11. Members of the Tusten, Highland and Lumberland VFW Post #6427 were on hand for the occasion as Commander Peter Carmeci officiated.  Read more
