Visitors to the popular river spot, Skinners Falls, will notice a change this summer. Surrounding the field near the parking lot is now a fence, and there is now a $1 fee to get inside. The field, which one can walk through to get to the path that leads to the rocks down by the falls, is private property owned by Rick and Lisa Lander of Landers River Trips. Read more

On November 16, 2012, the New York State Police at Liberty received a report that a Kubota tractor had been stolen from property in the Town of Cochecton. On December 1, 2012, after an investigation by members the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and with the assistance of the Pennsylvania State Police, the tractor was located in Beach Lake, Pennsylvania. The National Canoe Safety Patrol performed its first river rescue on Saturday, May 26 at Skinners Falls. Erika Poston rescued Danilo Carvajal, 59, a visiting Queens resident, on her first day of service on the patrol. Read more
