NPS takes no stand on PPL route; three public hearings planned for Water Gap powerline

The position of the National Park Service on the proposed Roseland power line has been misinterpreted in the press, according to Bob Karotko, former deputy superintendent of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area (DWGNRA), who retired on December 3.

The remark came after the release of the DWGNRA’s draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) on the proposed line.  Read more

Delaware River and Access Points Closed in Park 1:00 pm

Superintendent John J. Donahue announced today that the Delaware River corridor and all access points within the boundaries of Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area are closed due to rising water levels. Heavy rainfall from the remnants Tropical Storm Lee, combined with already heightened river levels from Hurricane Irene, has led to the latest closure. The National Weather Service has issued flood watches and warnings for this stretch of the river.  Read more
