Gospel Bond perform in church

Gospel Bond, a group of seven men singing in traditional southern gospel quartet style with bass, rhythm, and lead guitars, drums and harmonica, at Beach Lake United Methodist Church, 6:30pm. Refreshments will be provided and a free will offering taken. Concerts will be held outdoors at Whispering Pines, behind the church on the shore of Beach Lake. Berlin welcomes payments

The Berlin Township Board of Supervisors was notified at the March 18 meeting that it will receive $106,837 for its liquid fuels tax fund payment. The payment from the PA Department of Transportation will be made April 1.

Berlin Township buys truck

Berlin Township has bought a 2012 Ford 550 truck for $69,658. The purchase was made through Pennsylvania’s piggyback program, which allows municipalities to benefit from cooperative purchasing through the Commonwealth’s Department of General Services’ commodity contracts. Utilization of state-awarded contracts by local governments fulfills local bidding requirements and increases savings to the municipalities.  Read more

Honesdale man killed in snowmobile accident

Kevin Mulligan, who was 45, was killed in a snowmobile accident while riding on Beach Lake on the evening of February 9. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Mulligan was driving a 2005 Polaris snowmobile across the lake, when he possibly became disoriented and rode off the lake and into a stack of aluminum docks located along the shoreline. Upon impact, Mulligan was thrown from the snowmobile and into the docks.  Read more
