PORT JERVIS, NY — On Thursday, May 1, Bon Secours Community Hospital celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Mental Health Department and a quarter century of its New Directions Unit.
Bon Secours Community Hospital, a member of the Bon Secours Charity Health System, has been treating mental illness for 20 years and providing rehabilitation, including “New Directions,” a detoxification program, for over 25 years. Read more

MIDDLETOWN, NY — Physicians and staff of Crystal Run Healthcare came together to raise funds for the 2014 Hudson Valley Walk to Cure Arthritis held on May 3 at Thomas Bull Memorial Park. Eleven employee teams raised a total of $14,208 in donations to benefit the walk. Including Crystal Run Healthcare’s corporate sponsorship, a grand total of $19,208 was donated to the New York chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, benefactor of the Walk to Cure Arthritis. Read more

MIDDLETOWN, NY — Last year volunteers at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick and Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Suffern donated a record 80,014 hours of their time in service.
On May 1, these three hospitals of the Bon Secours Charity Health System honored volunteers at a luncheon at the Fountains Wallkill Golf Course in Middletown. Senior administrators expressed their gratitude to the many dedicated men and women, ranging in age from high school students to senior citizens.
WARWICK, NY — On Wednesday, April 30, six of seven registered nurses and one holistic health practitioner, all serving in Orange and Rockland county hospitals that form the Bon Secours Charity Health System, participated in a graduation ceremony held in the chapel at Mount Alverno Center. Read more

WAYNE COUNTY, PA — Wayne County Area Agency on Aging’s Marie Alexander and Carleen Faatz traveled to Waymart to present a program called Healthy Steps for Older Adults “Falls Prevention.” This program is a part of the Primetime Health program written by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. The program is designed to help those who are 50 years of age and older take better care of themselves, stay healthy and prevent falls. The group learned how to make their homes safer, eat more healthily and what questions to ask their physicians. Read more
LIBERTY, NY — A new Caregivers Support Group will start shortly in Sullivan County. It is sponsored by the Hudson Valley/Rockland/Westchester Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association in conjunction with volunteers and staff at Achieve Rehab & Nursing Facility in Liberty. The purpose of the support group is to provide an opportunity for family members and caregivers of loved ones with Alzheimer’s or related disorders to meet and develop a mutual support system among people who really understand what they are going through because they’ve been there too.
