Healthy Steps in Motion: A free exercise class for seniors

HONESDALE, PA — Healthy Steps in Motion is an exercise program that incorporates warm-up, balance, weight resistance/strength training and cool-down segments as its program foundation. It was designed by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging and is offered to area older adults at no cost. Healthcare screenings offered

MIDDLETOWN, NY — Orange Regional Medical Center (ORMC) will host an outpatient services health fair on Saturday, April 5 at the Galleria at Crystal Run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be free blood pressure checks, diabetes and breast cancer risk assessments, cardiac screenings, Reiki therapy sessions and more. Volunteers, staff and medical experts from various departments at ORMC will meet and greet the public, offer educational information and provide resources for various healthcare services.  Read more

Auxiliary ball breaks fundraising record

HONESDALE, PA — The Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s 73rd annual Gala Ball on January 18 raised more than $25,000. Co-chairwoman Martha Wilson said the record amount was the result of strong support from the medical and business communities, as well as countless individuals, including the 193 people who attended the dinner-dance at Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Resort on Lake Wallenpaupack.  Read more

Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers recognized for vaccination compliance

HONESDALE, PA — When it came to promoting flu prevention, the staff of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) didn’t simply encourage patients to roll up their sleeves. They led by example. Nearly 100% of the organization’s 140 physicians, nurses, medical assistants, front office and administrative staff were vaccinated themselves. Their efforts earned them state recognition from the PA Immunization Education Program, which awarded WMCHC a Certificate of Excellence from the Immunization Action Coalition (IAC).  Read more
