BETHEL, NY — Catskill Distilling Company’s “Most Right Bourbon” was named one of the top 10 bourbons in a competitive tasting of small-batch, single-barrel and special-selection bourbons conducted by a panel of whiskey experts at the request of The New York Times recently. Judges described “Most Righteous Bourbon” as “soft, smooth and straightforward with flavors of maple, mind and honey.” At a cost of $32 for a 375 ml bottle, the 93-proof bourbon was also judged to be the best value among those tasted.
MONTICELLO, NY — Combined Energy Services (CES), a regional energy supplier, continues to help the Sullivan County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) keep its homeless dogs and cats protected and warm during the toughest winter months with its annual heating fuel donation.
In March, CES presented manager Debbie Dittert and president Dana Hawk-Heimbach of the SPCA with a $2,500 propane gas credit. Throughout the winter months, the SPCA struggles to heat its kennel due to lack of proper insulation in the aging cinderblock building. Read more

Three flexible two-hour sessions are scheduled at the county’s Park Street Complex, 648 Park St. on April 17 at 7 p.m., May 14 at 7 p.m. and May 17 at 9 .a.m. Attendees will receive a comprehensive infopak. MILFORD, PA — The Pike County Public Defender’s Office recently welcomed attorney Kelly Gaughan as an assistant public defender. She has over 15 years of courtroom experience in the areas of family and criminal law. Gaughan will be handling the criminal matters that occur within the jurisdiction of Magisterial District Court Judge Alan Cooper.
Gaughan adds her part-time position with the public defender’s office to her practice at the law offices of Levy, Stieh and Gaughan, P.C. Gaughan has been a partner and vice president of the firm since 2003.
BETHEL, NY — The harsh winter has forced the Bethel Motor Speedway (BMS) to postpone its scheduled preseason practice, originally slated for Saturday, April 12, to the following Saturday, April 19.
“With significant snowfalls and a slow warm-up, there is still snow on the property,” stated BMS Business Operations Manager Tracy Chirico. “We believe that our racers and fans deserve a quality experience when we swing open the gates, so we feel it is in everyone’s best interests to postpone practice.” Read more
