National Train Days begin on Friday evening at The Cooperage, 1030 Main St., where the many gig posters created for the 10th annual Honesdale Roots & Rhythm Music & Arts Festival will be on display with an artist’s reception from 7 to 8 p.m. After, the duo The Brakemen take the stage to entertain with songs about trains and railroading. Admission to the music event is by donation. For more information, call 570/253-2020.

Stourbridge Line Passenger Rail Excursions have returned to Honesdale, the birthplace of the American Railroad after a three-year absence. This weekend will feature departures from Honesdale on both Saturday and Sunday at 9 a.m., 12 noon and 3 p.m. For ticket information, visit TheStour bridgeLine.net. Ticket prices are $20 per adult and $10 for children under 12.

At the Wayne County Historical Society’s museum, visitors can see a full-scale replica of the famous Stourbridge Lion, the first locomotive to run on a commercial track in America. The museum will also be open on Sunday with free admission and activities for children.

Craft vendors will line Main Street on both Saturday and Sunday. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the Wayne County Farmer’s Market on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The farmer’s market is located in front of Dave’s Super Duper, located at 200 Willow Ave. (Rte. 6), and features fresh, locally grown produce, flowers, plants, herbs, homemade baked goods, jewelry, and many more locally made items.

Don’t miss the excitement of the Honesdale Rotary’s Interact Club’s “Moose Poop Drop” at the end of Main Street on Fourth Street starting at 10 a.m. With support from RE/MAX Wayne, one thousand pieces of pre-sold, packaged and numbered genuine moose poop will be dropped from the RE/MAX hot air balloon onto a railroad style target with prizes being awarded to the owners of the poop closest to the bull’s eye. Enjoy music with DJ Tom Emanski, starting at 11 a.m. on the 900 block of Main Street, in between Stanton Office Supply and the Borough Building.

Dessin Animal Shelter will hold their Mother’s Day flower and plant sale under the Fred Miller Pavilion at Seventh and Main streets. Stop by and learn more about this important animal rescue organization, the pets that are up for adoption, and how you can help.

The Stourbridge Model Railroad Club, located in the Grace Episcopal Parish Hall at 827 Church St. will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to visit their mythical town of Wayne and watch the HO-gauge train run. Admission is free, but donations are always appreciated.
