MILFORD, PA — Samite, a world-renowned composer, singer, instrument-alist and ambassador for peace, will perform on Saturday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Milford Theatre. Accompanied by Nate Richardson on keyboard, guitar and vocals, the New York State resident will present a program called “The Healing Power of Music.”
Samite was born and raised in Uganda, where he became a virtuoso on the European and East African flutes. He also became a master of the marimba, kalimba (finger piano), and litungu (Kenyan harp) as well as a composer and vocalist who, as explained in Billboard Magazine, “wraps his warm voice around melodies that seem to rise up off the Ugandan plateau, caressed by his kalimbas and other... instruments.”
Tickets cost $20 at the box office or $15 when purchased in advance at kindredspiritsarts.org, or Books and Prints at Pear Alley, 220 Broad St. Children under 15 are admitted free. This and other events are presented by Kindred Spirits Arts Programs.
