CUDDEBACKVILLE, NY — Bring your family for a fun evening of comedy and slapstick-filled silent classic films at the The Neversink Valley Museum of History and Innovation on Wednesday, July 2 at 7:30 p.m. Gretchen Weerheim, executive director, will be hosting a screening of a selection of D.W. Griffith’s comedy classic, “Sally of the Sawdust” (silent, black and white, 113 minutes) featuring W.C. Fields at the D&H Canal Visitor’s Center, 58 Hoag Rd.
W.C. Fields stars as Professor Eustace McGargle, a con man who becomes the unlikely guardian of an orphaned circus waif named Sally (Carol Dempster). Intending to return her to her grandfather, McGargle discovers that Sally’s grandfather sends the cops after him, and that Sally has fallen in love with a socialite.
Admission is $5 suggested donation to fund the museum’s educational programs. Refreshments will be served. Call 845/754-8870, email nvam@frontiernet.net or visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/pages/The-Neversink-Valley-Museum-of-History-Innovation.
