HONESDALE, PA — The Marko Marcinko Latin Jazz Quintet presented by “Concerts in the Coop” will be at The Cooperage on Friday, June 27 at 7:30 p.m. Marcinko will be on drums joined by Bob Velez on the congas, Bill Washer on guitar, Paul Rostock on bass and Tom Hamilton switching between sax and flute. The quintet delivers traditional, high-voltage Latin and Brazilian jazz.

Marcinko began his career while still a teenager living in Archibald, PA. He studied technique with drumming master Joe Morello. “I wanted to learn as much as possible about the art, especially jazz,” said Marcinko.

Marcinko gained international attention in the 1990s as drummer and arranger for Maynard Ferguson. When Marcinko finished his time on the international road, he returned to the Northeast in high gear. “I was motivated to start a musical arts renaissance in my home region of PA,” said Marcinko.

The show is BYOB. Donations collected at the door. The “Concerts in the Coop” performances take place on the last Friday of each month between April and October. The series is arranged by local artist John Kascht, For more information visit www.thecooperageproject.org or call 570/253-2020.
