NARROWSBURG, NY — Applications are now available for 2014 Artists in the Community grants. Any individual artist who is a resident of Sullivan County can apply.

The purpose for the grant is to stimulate the creation of new and significant work within a community setting. The work must in some way reflect community life or culture and engage the local community in the creative process of the artist.

Two grants of $2,000 each will be awarded by a panel of judges made up of professional local artists from various genres.

The program is administered by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA) in Narrowsburg and is an extension of the Sullivan County Decentralization Program in conjunction with New York State Council on the Arts.

The deadline for applications to arrive in the DVAA office is Friday, April 4, 2014. They may be mailed or delivered to: Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, P.O. Box 170, 37 Main St., Narrowsburg, NY 12764. (Note: This is not a postmark deadline.) Applications can be downloaded from the DVAA website (www.artsalliancesite.org) or picked up in the DVAA office.

For more information, contact grants coordinator Mary Greene at 845/252-7576 or dvaagrants@gmail.com.
