ELDRED, NY — Come toast George Washington on his birthday with his favorite beverage: beer. The birthday bash runs from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 22 at Henning’s Local restaurant (formerly The Eldred Preserve).
Colonial re-enactors Paul Brennan and JoAnn Bogdanovicz will portray George and Martha Washington. The party will include beer tastings from several local breweries, 18th century tavern fare (and birthday cake), a brief talk by Sullivan County Historian on “American Walks Into a Bar: The Role of Beer in the Revolutionary War,” and dancing (including the Virginia Reel) to period tunes performed by historical musician Linda Russell.
Donation is $35 in advance and $40 at the door to benefit The Delaware Company (the non-profit friends of Fort Delaware Museum of Colonial History in Narrowsburg.) Colonial attire is highly encouraged, but not required.
Reservations can be made by emailing John Conway at jconway52@hotmail.com. For further information, call 845/557-0851.
