YOUNGSVILLE, NY — Domesticities will open a new show featuring six artists, including some not before seen in the area. The opening reception is Saturday, October 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. The show will run through Sunday, November 24.

The six artists wind their way through the exploration of texture, light and color with fabric playing an integral part in the process. Fabric kites and wall hangings by Wilfredo Aponte emphasize color and shape.

Jane Blake’s paintings on silk explode with color. Lisa Marie Hermanson’s cross-stitch pieces suggest movement and light. Buff McAllister pieces fabric together, creating texture and contrast in her pieces.

Helena Pittman was inspired to work in fabric by the rags she used when painting. Leslie Shaw Zadoian uses many materials in her work including fabric and thread to produce texture, suggest movement and through their transformation (and a little magic) sense the unseen.

Domesticities is located at 4055 Rte. 52. For more information, call 845/482-3333 or email cuttinggarden@hotmail.com. To preview the show, visit www.thecuttinggarden.org/events.html.
