NARROWSBURG, NY — Jim Gaudet and The Railroad Boys, a national bluegrass band on the rise, will open the Tusten Theatre’s fall season on Saturday, October 5 at 8 p.m. With the Railroad Boys, Mat Kane (violin), Bobby Ristau (upright bass) and Sten Isachsen (mandolin), Gaudet, the lead guitarist and singer, anchors his songs in classic roots music with a driving style firmly rooted in Americana. The band’s fourth CD, “Reasons That I Run,” highlights the latest collection of Gaudet’s stories and songs.
Forestburgh native Mat Kane plays violin in the quartet. Picking up the fiddle at the tender age of five, Kane was exposed to bluegrass early on through playing with his uncles, singer-songwriter Kieran Kane and instrumentalist Richard Kane of the O’Kanes. After graduating from college, Kane lived in Beijing, China for two years where he played electric violin with Chinese rock legends Shazi, Cui Jian and Tang Dynasty. After moving back to the United States, Kane became the fiddler for the cajun/country band The Doc Marshalls for seven years.
Tickets cost $20 ($18 advanced sales for DVAA members). The fall series is presented by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance. For tickets or information call 845/252-7272 or visit www.ArtsAllianceSite.org. For more about the band, visit www.jimgaudet.com.
