NARROWSBURG, NY — Volunteer firefighters and their departments from all of Sullivan County and parts of Wayne County were honored at the 85th annual Sullivan County Volunteer Firefighters Association (SCVFA) parade, held in Narrowsburg on Saturday, September 28. The parade was hosted by the Narrowsburg Fire Department, and 2013 marks the 111th year of community service for the department. The SCVFA parade returned to Narrowsburg for the first time in nearly 40 years.
Many showed up to applaud and cheer on the fire departments. There were also a marching band from Middletown High School and two bagpipe brigades and a drum line. After the parade, there were festivities at Landers Field.
