MILFORD, PA — Kindred Spirits Arts Programs will host The Crosswinds Quintet at the Milford Theatre on Friday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. This concert is a follow-up to a historic first: the September 21 standing-room-only performance of a full symphony orchestra in Milford, also produced by Kindred Spirits.
This woodwind quintet mixes traditional classical music with contemporary pieces. The program at the Milford Theatre will run the gamut from Matthew Arnold to Jacques Ibert to Pacquito D’Rivera.
The quintet, whose members are all alumni of Montclair State University’s Cali School of Music, includes flautist Natasha Loomis, oboist Matthew Schmidt, clarinetist Alexander Knox, bassoonist Daniel Parente and horn player Matthew Searing. Although these musicians are only in their 20s, they have worked as ensemble members and even conductors of prominent orchestras in the Northeast. Prior to their performance at the Milford Theatre, they’ll offer master classes at Dingman Delaware Middle School and Delaware Valley High School.
Tickets cost $20 at the box office or $15 when purchased in advance on the Kindred Spirits Arts Programs website, kindredspiritsarts.org, or at Books and Prints at Pear Alley, 220 Broad St., Milford. Children under 15 are admitted free.
