MILFORD, PA — The Pike County Historical Society announced that the annual “23 for History” marathon softball game, in honor of Shohola’s own Smoky Joe Wood, will take place on Saturday, October 5 at 10 a.m. Pennsylvania State Representative Rosemary Brown will commence the game by throwing the first pitch.

The marathon softball game will take place at the Milford Little League Field. The Pike County Historical Society is seeking players, as well as inning sponsors. Proceeds from this event go to the Museum Exhibit Maintenance Fund, which allows for the Columns Museum to update and maintain its current exhibits, as well as actively acquire new ones.

People interested in playing should be prepared to play 23 innings. The historical society will provide lunch and other refreshments. At the end of the game, trophies will be awarded for MVP and Golden Glove on each team. For more information, or to get involved, call 570/296-8126 or email pikemuse@ptd.net.
