Milford goes local with Tri-State Farm to Table Festival

MILFORD, PA — Milford will celebrate local farms and the bounty of the region with its first Tri-State Farm to Table Festival on Saturday, September 28 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the courtyard of River Rock Inn (210 Second St.). The environmental non-profit Air Soil Water will present this free event featuring farm vendors, food for purchase, live music by They Know, fun for kids and educational lessons by the Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC), The Mother’s Project and Breathless Beauty on composting, gardening, juicing and more.

Tying into the celebration, every restaurant in town including River Rock, Delmonico Room, Water Wheel and Peter’s Europa will feature at least one dinner special that evening using 100% local ingredients sourced from the area. Customers will learn about the origins of the dish and taste the difference that fresh, local food can provide. Some of the restaurants already have extensive local options and others have agreed to join in and create a special menu for the evening working together with local growers like Willow Wisp Organic.

Attendees will have a chance to meet and talk with local farmers who actually grow the food we eat and learn about healthy delicious food options that directly benefit our neighbors, local economy and health.

This event is free to the public and to vendors, funded with proceeds from the Pete Seeger concert. Air Soil Water will partner with Barryville Farmers Market, who will have their Saturday weekly market open prior to joining the Milford event.
