BETHEL, NY — The Stray Cat Gallery on Route 17B will hold an opening reception for a new exhibit, “Quantum States of Light,” featuring the work of Joan Nicole and Nick Clemente, on Saturday, August 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. The show opens on Friday, August 30 and runs through Wednesday, September 11.

Nicole uses the medium of glass to play with light in the literal sense, employing its properties of reflectivity and translucency as well as color and texture. Using glass as a painter uses a palette, she creates mercurial designs of uncommon vibrancy and lucency.

Clemente’s experimentation with light occurs on a more symbolic level. His works reflect his ongoing interest in Eastern as well as Western cultures, and an exploration of image-making media as “casting light” in a figurative sense, as a tool for creative transformation, and a way to awaken inner vision and aesthetic awareness. The two artists are partners and live together in Sullivan County.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit www.straycatgallery.com.
