NARROWSBURG, NY — “Half Hidden,” paintings and prints by Carol Radsprecher, and “Le dejeuner sur l’herbe,” paintings by E. Morisot, opens with a reception on Friday, August 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Alliance Gallery.
Radsprecher’s images, both paintings and digital prints, reference the human female body. After painting for many years, Radsprecher recently began experimenting with drawing and “painting” in Photoshop®. “I became enthralled with the seemingly infinite possibilities inherent in this digital medium,” she said.
For this show, Morisot created her own interpretation of the famous 1863 painting “Le dejeuner sur l’herbe” (“The Luncheon on the Grass”) by Edouard Manet, which features fully dressed men having a picnic with nude women. “My cows are bold and playful, with a dynamic lightness in a more abstract way. Of course in my cow series appears the bull. Everything has a match: the sun and the moon, the mamelle and the couilles,” she said.
The free exhibit will be on view through August 31. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit www.ArtsAllianceSite.org, or call 845/252-7576.
