MILFORD, PA — “Goods from the Woods” is the focus of the ninth annual Festival of Wood at Grey Towers National Historic Site on Saturday, August 3 and Sunday, August 4. This family-friendly and free event offers a variety of activities and events that demonstrate the many ways we use and enjoy wood in our everyday lives.

Wood crafts, children’s activities with wood, chainsaw carvings, educational exhibits, live woodland wildlife, beekeeping, films, tree pruning, portable sawmill demonstrations, music created with wood, forest hikes and more will be offered on the grounds of the historic estate throughout the weekend.

A special exhibit this year will highlight Dr. Gifford Bryce Pinchot, son of eminent conservationist and PA Governor Gifford Pinchot, whose vision and generosity made possible the gift of the family estate to the American public 50 years ago. The 1963 dedication by President John F. Kennedy also marked the founding of the Pinchot Institute for Conservation at Grey Towers. A variety of refreshments will be available.

The festival hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. For a schedule of events or more information, call 570/296-9630 or email greytowers@fs.fed.us. A schedule of the festival activities can be downloaded at www.greytowers.org.
