‘Mist & Mystery’ in Bethel

BETHEL, NY — “Mist & Mystery,” a two-person show featuring the works of Barbara Zweig and Kit Jones, opens on Saturday, May 25 at the Stray Cat Gallery, just opposite the Dancing Cat Saloon, with a reception from 4 to 7 p.m.

Barbara Zweig depicts the Venus de Milo as an icon of culture, beauty and truth. In mysterious works that hang on the wall and “bleed” down onto the floor and paintings of the Venus as ghosts floating in the night sky, she reflects on the present state of our commodity-ized culture.

Kit Jones’ fascination with fog and mist stems from his childhood in a coastal town in California where summer fog came in almost daily. “I am a child of the mist, I find it fascinating stuff. It’s one of the only ways we can actually see beams of light,” she said,
