SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — Ramps Fest will be held the weekend of May 4 and 5, presented by Slow Food UpDeRiVa. On May 4 there will be a “Ramp Tramp” at Channery Hill Farm in Callicoon Center at 2 p.m. Participants will take a walk and learn how to identify and conscientiously harvest wild ramps, and take some home.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 5 at the Callicoon Farmers’ Market, taste some samples of things to do with ramps, browse and buy a ramps cookbook, learn about the history and beauty of ramps and buy fresh ramps from local farmers. From 12 noon to 2 p.m. there will be a RampART contest, and an arts and crafts table for kids. From 12:30 to 1 p.m. is the Ramp on a Ramp Race, and from 1 to 2 p.m. is the ramp recipe competition.
