MILFORD, PA — Broadway actor and costumer Billy Hipkins will star in “For the Benefit of Miss Jennie Gourlay,” an original one-man production that takes a look at the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, on Saturday, February 9 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, February 10 at 3 p.m. in the Foundation Room of the Columns Museum. He focuses on the life of Jeannie Gourlay, an actress in the play “Our American Cousin,” which was being performed at Ford’s Theater the night of President Lincoln’s assassination. Gourlay lived in Milford from 1888 until her death in 1926.
All proceeds go toward the preservation of Jeannie (Jennie) Gourlay’s stage costumes, which were donated to the Columns Museum in 1954, along with the bloodstained Lincoln Flag. Purchase tickets by calling 570/296-8126 or emailing pikemuse@ptd.net. Tickets cost $30 and include a “meet-the-actor” wine and cheese reception. Visit www.ForJenniesBenefit.com.
