HIGHLAND LAKE, NY — NACL Theatre has exceeded its recent fundraising goal of $12,000, receiving $22,290 in donations from 241 people during a 30-day online Kickstarter campaign. The funds will enable the ensemble theatre company to finish its new work, “struck.” Funding was enhanced by a local sponsorship from Catskill Farms in Eldred.

In this play, a woman who suffers a stroke experiences (along with the audience) a surreal journey as her body, mind and soul dangle, sing, skate and dance between life and death.

In addition to those pictured in the accompanying photograph, others working on the project include technical director Zoot, filmmaker Tina Spangler and Pam Mayer, all of Narrowsburg, and Hall Smyth of Pond Eddy. Director Ker Wells and lighting engineer/inventor Jim Ruxton are from Hamilton, ON, Canada, joined by two New Yorkers, lighting designer Stephen Arnold and playwright Kristen Kosmas.

The performance will premiere at Cleveland Public Theatre in March and will open NACL’s 2013 season in May. In December, “struck” will have a three-week run at HERE Arts Center in Soho, New York City.
